U.S. Military Commander of the 1st Gulf War Dies at 78

The commander of the U.S. forces during the 1991 Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm), H. Norman Schwarzkopf, has died at the age of 78. He was in Tampa, Florida.

Operation Desert Storm lasted just over a month as U.S.  military forced Saddam Hussein's soldiers out of Kuwait.

Schwarzkopf was tagged with the nickname "Stormin' Normin" during the war.

The cause of his death is unclear at this point.
